On any given night there are roughly 49,950 homeless veterans left to survive in either blistering heat,  hypothermic winters, with minimal support, and still battling memories of combat. Hero’s that we have paid lunch tabs for , given up seats on a flight for, or gave standing ovations for are now seen as bad people to avoid and for some reason deserve where they are. How can we call someone a hero one day and pretend they do not exist the next day?
